Most veteran reloaders are familiar with the famous initials "FA" on military .30-06 Springfield brass - and for good reason.

The original Frankford Arsenal Army Ammunition Plant was constructed in 1816 on 20 acres of land purchased by United States President James Madison. It was the center of U.S. military small arms ammunition design and development until 1977 when it was closed. In addition to massive small arms ammunition production, Frankford Arsenal was responsible for almost all of the research, development and manufacture of United States Army field reloading equipment for the .45-70, .50-70, .30-40 Krag and .30-06 Springfield - beginning in the 1880's. Among the many products manufactured at the arsenal were fire-control and range-finding instruments, and gauges for these components.

While unrelated to the original, today's Frankford Arsenal carries on in the same spirit by offering well-designed and quality products. Frankford Arsenal is one of the world's leading brands of metallic reloading equipment. The Frankford Arsenal staff works diligently to honor the tradition of this famous name.
